FCC Tells ISPs To Get Their Finger Out

Julius Genachowski, the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), wrote a guest post on Forbes.com imploring US Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to get it together and start aggressively rolling out high speed "Gigabit" broadband service. The US does well in fast mobile service, but comes up lacking when providing fast wired connections to homes in comparison to other countries.
Making sure the U.S. has super-fast, high-capacity, ubiquitous broadband networks delivering speeds measured in gigabits, not megabits isn’t just a matter of consumer convenience, as important as that is. It’s essential to economic growth, job creation and U.S. competitiveness.
