As a certified (and perhaps certifiable) Old Fart, I can sometimes be caught waxing lyrical about how "they don't make music like they used to" and so on - yes, older people do sometimes indulge in that sort of pointless exercise.
I literally just found something on YouTube (quickly becoming my go-to "TV station" these days) that warmed the cockles of my heart.
I tremendously admire live acts that can really perform well, and here we have a group of musicians that put together a frankly astonishing variety of great-sounding live covers of some difficult, scary and revered material.
The thing about live shows is that of course you are hanging it all out there; relying on your own and others musical ability and stage craft to put out something people will appreciate. Studio recordings often have a LOT of technology going on, and that's hard to get right in a live setting.
Anyway, these folks are called The Classic Rock Show, and appear to be UK-based. They take on covers of classics (duh!) like "Carry On My Wayward Son", "Reelin' In The Years", "Bat Out of Hell", "Rhiannon", and many more - quite a range of sounds and genres (yes, they cover Queen, too).
I am very, very impressed and would actually like to see these folks live, even though I have not been to a concert in . . . well, I don't want to even tell you how long.
